March 10, 2017 at 6:47am · back in the '90s, "tech talk with Donna" was a thing, namely at the college where I finished as valedictorian for the entire tech wing. Jump ahead a few years, and I don't even know how to turn on the XBone controller (I can handle a real one, but apparently the clone one is not the same). Kids are downloading two video games and I might have messed them up. Kids are gonna be mad. I'm hoping not to be out an extra $80 or so for any mistakes that I might have made. Of course, while it was trying to download, I couldn't access the internet enough to look up how not to mess up your kids video games. Could I have just been patient and waited it out? That would have been too easy. :(:(:( The good news out of all of this... my impatience also had me realize that Joe's alarm clock was 20 minutes behind, after the power was out for 21.5 hrs. We had two 9V batteries that had to prove that they don't live forever without AC back up. Going shopping tonight. Hopefully all we need to buy is two 9V batteries.
It turned out, that the video games were a success after all! :D
LW: Oh Donna. You should write a book. The travels and adventures you all have.
August 20/15: my smart phone and laptop just went nuts as a facebook messenger call was accidentally directed my way. I had to click on the computer to connect my call on the phone, I talked to the person on the other end. we were both confused and the connection was terrible. we both live in the country, so i don't know if we can even expect better than that. we had a fun, brief chat and I had to hang up because the other person couldn't seem to end the call. when the call ended, fbm wanted me to rate the quality of the call. um, compared to what?! other than a quick, fun chat, it was an epic fail in every way. I took the call outside, as it was on my phone and that's usually what I have to do for best signal, but if it needed wifi, then outside was not the place to be.
