May something, 1018. I am having such a hard time even guessing what day it is any more! Thankfully, my log book keeps track for me and I haven't yet missed any scheduled appointments. Sometimes I scare myself. I'm thankful for the last couple of appointments, someone sent me a very timely reminder for each. I need to get back on track. I just found out, today's the 25th. LOL Meanwhile, the point of this particular post:
Cardio Stress Test: I passed with flying feathers! I hope! Every day, there's food left on my bus. Every day that windows get left open, I get to my bus in the morning, half expecting a bat or a raccoon to be inside the bus, defending it's new territory. This week, I did finally meet my first "guest" that happened to be bigger than the usual bug. As I got in the bus, something started flapping, and I started flapping, too, along with some screaming. I quickly realized that my guest was a mourning dove. Not the most dangerous species of wild life around here, so beyond being startled, I began to fear more for its safety than mine. I'm sure the screaming and flapping helped! :p Thankfully, the windows were all fogged up, so the dove very quickly managed to figure out how to get out of the bus, easily seeing which windows were open. Yay! I then ran all the way across the yard, to the end of the driveway to tell Joe. "I'm sure you didn't hear the screaming, but there was a dove on my bus!" We had a quick chuckle together before he left and I ran back to my bus to get it on the road. All that running, just to prove that my heart didn't actually stop from being startled in the first place! LOL :D I found out later that I didn't wake Wesley. Steve is bomb-proof, once he actually falls asleep. He doesn't even wake up when the house is on fire.
April 5/18: I love my job. This is an observation not a complaint. I have windburn so bad that I'm violently shivering with a fever. Looking forward to tomorrow and to having the weekend off!
PC: Yup... been there doing chores lol I hear ya
me: Mine's just from being on the bus! :O
KH: Windburn? From driving a bus?
me: I crank the heat trying to stay warm only to realize that these goofy buses don't produce any heat. All those fans blowing all around my face plus the wind that comes in through the windows that won't close properly = serious wind burn. We have had incredible wind storms the last couple of days, so getting out of the bus didn't help, either. I have a really sore shoulder from trying to keep the bus in the proper lane and not where ever the wind was trying to push me.
March 15/18: How cool is this?! Go'h Canada!!!!!
Aurora "Steve" Discovered
me: Incredible start to an amazing day! This was on the news this morning! I was then able to get my papers ready in daylight hours while listening to a lecture about the sun! Oh, glorious day!!! 😎

April 5, 2017 · I bought a mail box for $11 at TSC last Fall. The paint is peeling off. I expect $1 chalk paint will last more than one season!
RS: Chalk paint is amazing and I LOVE it. However, it is not intended for outdoor use, so it may also peel. But worth a try. Be sure to put the wax on to seal it.
me: I will just try the chalk paint for now, not sure how the bees will react to having any kind of wax out there.
LV: If you want white I have a little thing of white enamal unopened you can just have.
me: Thanks, it's a black mail box so I stayed with black.
MD: Is chalk paint for outside?
me: I will find out! :D Whatever they used on the mail box wasn't!
2018 update: the chalk paint has lasted a year so far! :D
me: here it is with the new paint on the front. I just realized how much the duct tape faded over Winter!
|
me: We cried last year when we dumped 8 lbs of dead bees in the ditch. That was just one hive! This year, we're feeding the dead bees to the chickens. Still sad but at least we get free eggs out of the deal.
LV: Wow 8 lbs of bees is a lot of bees
me: 3000 bees per pound
LV: Oh my I'd cry to.
8/24/16: back to school - almost. back to work, seeing who's coming back, who's driving where, who's on my bus, what buses will start and run. safety training and some social time, too. :D nature's showing some signs of summer being over, already. we're working on getting hives ready for winter. yes, I said it. it's true.
