Aug. 26/16: "your bees were decimated by yesterday's rain". ok, so we needed the rain, and yes, the numbers need to fall before Winter, but still not the funnest news of the day. the good news is, more brood should be hatching, the queen will know to lay more if there's nectar flow for it, somehow nature does not only balance out, it almost always continues to thrive.
July 19, 2015 · some bee math, just in case hive numbers triple each year; 5,15, 45,135. We could have more, we could have less, there's lots of variables, but this is approximate math. If we could sell a hundred nukes for $200 each, in three years, that's $20K. Oh, that is good math - and need for our own woodworking shop!!!
2017 update, we've had 5, 4, 15, 9, 19, 18, 17 hives, showing how the numbers rise and fall through the seasons.
Pictured below is fresh, raw, golden honey pouring out from our extractor into our serving pail, through a very fine mesh filter. I took this picture, July 23, 2017: The extractor takes a long time to drain but every drop is worth the wait!
