Some sins, it's difficult to understand how they displease God. Obviously not this one, as it hurt and even killed the innocent. But when we sin against ourselves, for example, does it really hurt God or anyone else, other than us? Those of us who have children understand, when we see them doing anything that could harm them. Most of us love our children and want to see them prosper. How much more does our Heavenly Father want to see us prosper? When we struggle with self-doubt, for example. "For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength." (Philippians 4:13, NLT) Our lack of faith in God's work in our lives is apparently troubling. There's a long list of Scriptures about anxiety or worry, debt, etc. My intention here is not to bring judgement. We can know that God is blessed when we are blessed. "11 What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!" (Luke 11, BSB) When you accept Christ, you become a child of God, a child of the King! God made you and He doesn't make mistakes! You are loved and you are treasured. Don't bury yourself in guilt, shame, or unforgiveness!
"After the time of mourning was over, David had her brought to his house, and she became his wife and bore him a son. But the thing David had done displeased the Lord." (2 Samuel 11:27, NIV)
