Yesterday was an interesting and adventurous day. Things didn't all go as planned, but all things went well. I know that not everything looks good, either. For one thing, we need to notice in this verse, that the promise is only for those who love God. God is gracious, but He doesn't always reward those who are against Him, either. The other thing is that just because some of us do love God, doesn't mean that our lives will be all lollipops and sunshine. That just sounds like diabetes and drought! I just actually mentioned to my hubby today that every garden needs a little rain.
Some events in our lives are truly tragic. God is very familiar with tragedy and He's not afraid to walk through our times of trouble with us. Personally, I don't even want to face any troubles without God! Not only is God with us through our struggles, but He also seems to always allow some good to happen in even the hardest of times. Perhaps one of the ugliest times in human history might be the holocaust. It's truly difficult to imagine anything good from that, yet Corrie TenBoom was able to share some of the best from some of the worst. She truly was inspiring. Compared to what she'd been through, there's nothing in my life that even compares to what she endured. I am blessed. My life is not perfect, but I choose to seek and appreciate the blessings as much as possible.
I've been told, "we have to take the good with the bad", which isn't all wrong. I do like the idea of finding the silver lining in all things. Sometimes, along with God's help, that might be the best path towards healing for our wounds. <3
