From the Lexicon or original language:
"Jesus,
Ἰησοῦν (Iēsoun)
Noun - Accusative Masculine Singular
Strong's Greek 2424: Of Hebrew origin; Jesus, the name of our Lord and two other Israelites."
Not only is every single Word, jot and tittle of the Bible important, but even what is unspoken is masterfully detailed by the Great Master. Can it possibly be accidental that Jesus was born and given a Greek Name when Koine Greek was the language of the world? During one of the few times that there has been a global language. Jesus is King of kings, the government (all government?) is upon His shoulders, He came to redeem all of mankind, of every nation, tribe, and tongue, and a day will come when every single knee will bow and every tongue confess His Lordship.
Yes, some call Jesus by His Hebrew Name, Yeshua, and there's nothing wrong with that, either. He came to this earth for all. I am amazed that despite all the languages upon this little blue planet, though, that it is the Greek derivatives that are most recognized and used, still to this day. I'm looking forward to that day when we see and hear Him respond to His Name, first-hand, but until that day, there is still much to do and lives to reach. :)
