Are we content with what we have? All we have has been provided by the Lord. Even if we think we have earned anything on our own, we must remember that it is God Who provides our health, our strength, the opportunities, ... everything. He gave us life! How successful are we without it? Sure, we can have dreams and goals in life. It is wise to line them up with God's will if we truly want to succeed.
It only gets worse, for a time:
"And King David longed to go to Absalom, for he was consoled concerning Amnon's death." (2 Samuel 13:39, NIV)
The only good thing about this story seems to be when it's over. What a messy life David lived. "Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now I'm found, was blind, but now I see." Most of us have some sort of mess in our lives and yet God can still do something good through us.
Quoting my son: "What man makes messy, God makes clean!"
